The diesel driven vertical turbine fire pump set is driven by a Q485 diesel engine with 34.5 kW power. The engine is water cooled and connected to the pump by universal joint transmission. With a 24 V battery system, the diesel pump can start independently when electricity fails. This is very important for fire protection projects, because the main fire pump must remain ready at any time, especially during emergency conditions.

Its main function is to maintain pipeline pressure during standby condition. When there is a small pressure drop in the pipe, the jockey pump starts automatically. When the pressure returns to the set value, it stops automatically. This prevents the diesel main pump from starting too often.
Two control cabinets are supplied with diesel driven vertical turbine fire pump set. The diesel pump control panel supports manual stop, manual and automatic control, manual start, emergency start, power and fault indicator lights, running time display, and pressure control by electric contact pressure gauge. It also includes diesel engine protection, such as high water temperature and low oil pressure protection.
The jockey pump control panel uses DOL starting and includes manual and automatic control, emergency start, power indicator, running indicator, fault indicator, audible phase failure alarm, and phase sequence protection.
A minimum flow bypass system is also included, with pressure relief valve, sight glass, and piping. Standard accessories include pressure switch, pressure gauge, relief valve, check valve, gate valve, common base, main relief valve, and related piping.
